Hybrid Schedule Generator

☆

Two days where your whole team overlaps beat three scattered trips — you end up commuting in to sit alone on video calls otherwise. This tool scores every combination by team overlap, the Tue/Wed/Thu preference data (JLL 2025: Tue 72% / Wed 68% / Thu 61% vs Mon 28% / Fri 15%) and your personal constraints.

Most RTO mandates are 2–3 days. The generator maximizes who else you'll see.

You can edit names. Tip: ask teammates to only check days they genuinely can do; an honest matrix beats a hopeful one.

Why this matters

The most common hybrid scheduling complaint on Reddit and scheduling blogs isn't "too many days" — it's "I showed up and nobody else was there." When teams pick days independently, everyone ends up commuting to a half-empty floor and joining video calls from the office. Scheduling sources (SmartKeys, Data Pilot, VoicePing) agree: two aligned anchor days produce more real collaboration than three scattered ones.

How it works

For every combination of N weekdays, the score = (number of overlapping team members) × 3 + (day-preference weight from the JLL data: Tue +2, Wed +2, Thu +1, Mon −1, Fri −2) × 1 + your preference bonus + your avoid-day penalty. The top 3 combinations become your plans. "Rotate next week" shifts everyone's matrix one slot so the burden of early mornings rotates fairly.

What the results mean

If your top plan includes Tuesday and Thursday, that matches the national pattern — those are the days most of your team will naturally choose, which is exactly what makes them good anchor days. If you prefer Mon/Fri for a quieter office, you'll see that choice reflected as a trade-off in the overlap score: fewer people, more quiet.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best days to go into the office?

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday dominate: 72%, 68% and 61% of hybrid workers prefer them (JLL 2025 survey, cited by daysattheoffice), versus 28% Monday and 15% Friday.

Why do two overlapping days beat three scattered ones?

Because collaboration needs overlap. Three days where each person comes in solo produce three days of video-call-from-the-office; two days with the whole team produce actual face time.

My manager sets the days, not me. What can I do?

Bring this overlap argument to the discussion: ask for two anchor days the whole team shares, and offer the "rotate the burden" pattern so no one is stuck with every Monday. The RTO Fairness Snapshot tool helps you chart the current state neutrally.
